The Welch family moved from Boca Raton, Florida to Brussels, Belgium on Oct 23, 2005 for a two year stint with James' company, Deloitte & Touche LLP. This hopefully will track the many journeys we hope to take while we're here and the little adventures along the way...

Last of the porch pool days

Last summer the kids were small enough to swim in a storage bin, this year we upgraded to a blow-up wading pool. Can't tell how many toys got tossed over the side and what happened to them, but it was something to do.

Last days in the park

Fortunately this summer wasn't as horribly hot as the last one. So Ciaran and Saoirse got to spend time outside without completely melting and enjoyed the fruits of the ice cream trucks that hung out in the park.

Living in Squallor

Our kitchen/computer/TV table.

Where James & I slept for two months.

The garbage can doubled as the iPod player table when I got rid of the kitchen one.

And doubled as a stool for James.

Not really, but we were down to the bare bones of our apartment the last few weeks as I either sold, tossed or donated our European belongings. We only had to dumpster the red chair and pillows so we did fairly well.

Normandy, France

Our last trip of our stay was to the region of Normandy to see the WWII sites. If you've ever seen "The Longest Day" you get a good feel for how things must have looked back in the day. The countryside is beautiful but with all the monuments, markers and sites, it's almost overwhelming to think what took place in that area. So, while we spent more time on the road and making "potty" stops along the way, it was a great place to visit.

Photos coming soon...
