The Welch family moved from Boca Raton, Florida to Brussels, Belgium on Oct 23, 2005 for a two year stint with James' company, Deloitte & Touche LLP. This hopefully will track the many journeys we hope to take while we're here and the little adventures along the way...

A Very Merry Unbirthday for Saoirse

The Callahans & Welch's

She's really going for the ice cubes here.

Mike and Kayla Trinks, Kirsti and Emily O'Keefe

Amelie and Saoirse anxiously waiting for the cake.

Since Saoirse didn't have a 1st birthday party last year, we decided to throw an early one for her while we were in town and my friends with kids could come. Weather was wonderful, there was much pizza and cake eating and tossing of presents by the princess herself. Now to fit everything in the suitcases... Thanks to everyone who came and hope Brynn and Megan feel better soon! We'll be testing out the parachute in our apt in Brussels (stay tuned for pics, maybe we can get the dogs on there and toss them up :) ).

October 2005

The kids enjoyed a day of sunshine and a picnic at Fernridge Park. I myself used to frequent it as a child and the only original object left from that playground is a cement turtle. But this is the park the kids went to before we moved to Brussels so it's funny to see how big they've gotten.

The Sun Has Come Out!

Finally, some spring weather. It may even hit 70 this weekend! Here's some snaps of the kids enjoying the sunshine on the porch and helping to sweep up the acorns. Oh and Ciaran taking a leap over the side into the bushes and then realizing what he's done. We of course were laughing our heads off and Saoirse made an attempt to pull her brother up to safety.

Forrest Park Zoo, Springfield, MA

Who knew there was a zoo in Springfield, MA? It is very cute and a good way to kill a few hours especially with the playground next door. Ciaran managed to jimmy the food dispenser and I was forced to feed the ponies over and over again while my trusty assistant handed me the food pellets. Yum.

What you didn't see...

I forgot to put the photos in sequence, so here's some prep before Easter. GP had the wise suggestion of only attempting to color six eggs. Saoirse found that dipping her hands in the buckets of food coloring (with vinegar mind you) and licking her fingers was the most fun. Yeah, I know.

Here Comes the Easter Bunny

I don't know why Saoirse's photo won't rotate, but they're on an Easter egg "hunt" with the neighborhood association. It was freezing!

Inspecting the "eggs" filled with fruit snacks.
Ciaran still has some Capt. Hook tatoo on his arm. Looks like a biker especially in the below pic on their new tricycle (or big wheel as we used to call it).

Goodbye Snowman

Not that I'm sorry to see the snow go (though we're supposed to get a Nor'easter on Sunday the 15th), Saoirse was very excited to see the remnants of the snowman that Ciaran and I made. Now what to do with the snowpants we have here...

Visit with the Boston cousins

We went to N. Billerica, MA to visit our cousins for the afternoon. My kids showed Marcie where she'll have to babyproof when Nate gets older.
